House Grobler
De Zalze Winelands & Golf Estate,
Stellenbosch
This house, which is situated in the De Zalze Winelands & Golf Estate, on the outskirts of Stellenbosch had to acknowledge the surrounding vineyards and mountains. While having to work within very tight architectural guidelines set by this estate, we also pursued not to sacriface to much of our own identity. The client, who is based in the UK, wanted the emphasis of the house to be the verandah. This verandah links with the living spaces as well as the guest bedroom on the ground floor. This house is a fine example of our quiet architecture respecting the context by placing more emphasis on the surroundings than wanting to make a statement with the building itself.
