My Sunlawns Nursary School testamonial said that I was very creative, and made friends easily. This early creativity and love for people got more structure when I decided to study architecture. After my third year of studies I decided to do construction work in London for a year. This had a big influence on my career. After successfully completing my Bachelors degree in Architecture at the UFS School of Architecture, I worked for two firms before I started my own practice in 1998. Both Wim Phelix and Johann Beukes, whom I worked for previously, played a big role in shaping me as a young architect.
My love for people resulted in me becoming more involved with residential architecture. I still constantly persue to improve peoples quality of life by means of good architecture. I am thankfull and humbled to be able to use this talent to contribute to peoples lives.
I have been happily married to Liesl since 1995. We are now the proud parents of three beautiful children, Anke, Emile and Christoph. Working from home gives me the opportunity to spend quality time with my family and to play an active role in their daily lives.
Besides architecture, photography has been a hobby of mine since I was a schoolboy. I later realised the value of combining photography and architecture. I daily get to apply the same principles in both these disciplines, such as proportion, scale, composition, etc.
The working holiday in London awakened a passion for traveling and communicating with people from different cultures. Traveling has provided a platform to experience architecture, photography and my love for languages.
Last but not least, I am a keen roadrunner and sports enthusiast. It certainly keeps me sane.
I believe in a well balanced lifestyle, which encompases all of the above mentioned on a daily basis.
