The brief from the client was to design a house for their family on a special piece of land overlooking the Krugersdrift dam. Our client, helicopter pilot, found this space very suitable to work from home. The bedrooms are all north-facing, and the living areas overlook the dam towards the east.
This proposed project is one of few cluster home projects in the secure Woodland Hills Wildlife Estate on the outskirts of Bloemfontein. There are 18 different houses, each with a different design, but they all speak the same architectural language, which is different from any other design in this security complex. It has sadly been put on hold by the developer because of budget constraints.
The proposed project is located on a vacant site in Heuwelsig, Bloemfontein. The house is designed to accommodate and work with the steep slope of site while opening up onto a view over the city of Bloemfontein.
